To make these DIY volcano valentines, you’ll need:

  • Vinegar

  • Baking Soda

  • These free Volcano Valentine printables

  • Small, watertight containers - .6 to 1 ounce (available on Amazon, or you can do what I did and repurpose wedding bubble containers from Dollar Tree!)

  • 3x4 clear envelopes with adhesive strip (I got mine on Amazon)

  • Ribbon

  • Scissors

  • Stapler

  • Rags to clean up the vinegar that is bound to spill

Optional:

  • Red food coloring to take the “lava” to the next level

  • Glitter to make the explosion sparkle

  • Funnel to simplify all the pouring

Time to dive right in!

  1. Print off and cut out Lava-ble Volcano Valentines

  2. Pour vinegar into containers, add food coloring and close those babies up before they spill

  3. Pour about a teaspoon of baking powder into each envelope. Add red and gold glitter to make it fancy

  4. Seal envelopes

  5. Staple the “Lava-ble” Volcano Valentines to the top of the envelop ( I also stapled the ribbon on)

  6. Tie the vinegar containers to the valentines

These bubble containers come in a pack of 6 for $1 at Dollar Tree in the wedding section. Save the bubble solution for later, pull the bubble wands out of the caps, and voila! You’ve got the perfect sized, watertight containers!

And there you have it!

Bonus: there are several “I lava you” valentines out there, but my 6 year old son was NOT about to hand out punny “I love you” cards to the girls in his class. haha These “You are so lava-ble” volcano valentines, on the other hand, earned his stamp of cootie-free approval.

If you and your kids make these fun volcano valentines, be sure to post about it using #mylife-onpurpose and tag me on IG @mommingonpurpose!
